Winter sport for all! From 23rd of January the Vienna Ice Dream on the Rathausplatz is open to visitors. You can enjoy the 9,000 square meters of ice rink from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm up until the 1st of March 2020. You can rent pre-heated ice skates directly at the rink and get a helmet for free.

The Vienna Ice Dream rink is unique in its layout. You can use the more conventional ice rinks directly in front of the Rathaus, or you can skate leisurely through the park. You can also go up the 120-meter-long ramp to the Sky Rink, which is a raised portion (880 square meters) overlooking the plaza.

Take a break from the skating at the food stands available near the rink. Here you can spoil yourself a little with the local, biologically produced gastronomy!

The Vienna Ice Dream is definitely worth to visit at least once, especially in the evening when the rink is illuminated by beautiful colors.

Hiking in and around Vienna

Hiking in and around Vienna

Vienna’s city hiking trails run for over 500 kilometers, mostly through the Vienna Woods on the edge of the city or through Vienna’s local recreation areas. They are well signed and can be reached by public transport. Service areas, restaurants and heurige along the way invite you to stay awhile, as do benches and tables at particularly attractive viewpoints or on forest meadows.

Vienna Water Trail - The trail runs next to the Upper- and Lower-Old-Danube skimming numerous historic places with the beautiful fauna and flora of the ecosystem. There are also many restaurants on the way.

The Green Prater - When you visit the Green Prater, you are walking on the former imperial hunting ground. The best way is to follow the signs on the 13 kilometer-long City Hiking Trail 9, which takes your directly from Praterstern (U1 Praterstern) away from the main avenue on the level to the little water meadow area at Freudenau.

Bisamberg - Ways to the wine on the edge of the city are offered by the hiking routes on the Bisamberg. One of these routes is the famous City Hiking Trail 5. Walk through old cellar lanes, roam through vineyards and oak woods, and experience interesting and surprising things from the varied history of the region on "educational trails". You might even discover one of the rare orchids that grow here. You set the length of your excursion for yourself. Your "Hiking Companion" guide will help you with this. Hiking companions are available for free at the starting point of your tour in the heurige town of Stammersdorf (brochure stands at the bus stop).

Rundumadum Hiking Trail - The athletic amongst you can tackle the more than 120 kilometer-long Rundumadum Hiking Trail, which encircles the city in 24 easy to manage stages. The starting and end points of each stage can be reached by public transport. Inns and shelters along the way invite you to take a break. Collect confirmation at the five stamping points that you have really walked the "rundumadum" and be rewarded with a hiking pin.

The Viennese Heurige

The Viennese Heurige - They are as famous as the Giant Ferris Wheel, Schönbrunn Palace, the Vienna Boys Choir or the Lipizzaner. A place in which to feel good, in which everyone is warmly welcome. The real Viennese heurige, in which only Viennese wines are served, are identified by a bunch of pine branches and by the word “Ausg’steckt” written on a board, which simultaneously shows when the tavern is open.
